SMS
SMS stands for short message service, which is often called text messaging.
SMS is a mean of sending short messages to and from cellular phones. It originated in 1985 as part of the GMS series of standards and was a way to send messages of up to 160 characters between mobile handsets.
Support for this technology has extended to include CDMA networks, satellite and landline phones.
